A Letter from our Pastor about Homeschooling

Education is an inherently religious exercise.  Values and some view of life is always communicated during the education process.  The question is, “Who will you allow to control this spiritual part of your child’s life?”  It is my sincere hope that you will give thought and prayer to the possibility of homeschooling for your children and grandchildren.  There are so many reasons NOT to send your children to be educated in government schools and so many positive reasons TO homeschool.  And there is no one more qualified to teach your child than you!  Your child is God’s gift to you and has been entrusted to YOU with purpose by God.

Homeschooling is work, both for the student and the parents.  I do not say this lightly, and I know personally that it requires a great deal of work on the part of parents.  My son, who is now grown, was homeschooled all the way from kindergarten through 12th grade.  I would not make a different choice over again, even if I could.  It is worth every bit of time and energy that you spend as a parent.  You are investing directly back into your own child.

We feel so strongly about the conviction of Christian parents homeschooling their children that we have made the decision at Pinnacle Baptist Church to support our members who choose this Biblical option for their children.  Below, you will find links to homeschooling materials which we have vetted and which we can recommend with a good conscience.  No curriculum is perfect and may include something from time to time, even in a godly curriculum, that you should either supplement or substitute altogether; but that’s the beauty of homeschooling… you’re in control of what your child is taught.

For parents who are members of Pinnacle Baptist Church, we are happy to offer scholarships, when needed, in order to help you with your investment in homeschooling from K5-12th grade.  If you’re a member of Pinnacle Baptist Church, either in person or online in your attendance, and are in need of a scholarship to help pay for your child’s homeschooling for the upcoming year, please submit the Scholarship Application found below; and someone from the church will contact you shortly.

May God bless you for your sacrifice for your child’s education,

Pastor Ray McBerry
